Copper Castings

Sand castings, centrifugal castings and permanent mold castings are all available from The Electric Materials Company (TEMCO).  Since 1915 we have specialized in the casting, fabricating and machining of copper and copper alloys for a wide variety of industries.  

Sand Castings
Castings for electrical or mechanical applications up to 600 lbs can be produced in our Copper Foundry.  Castings requiring special cores, pads, fins, studs are easily accommodated in our green sand and no-bake equipment.

Centrifugal Castings
Centrifugal castings produced in our foundry are frequently used in critical applications such as rotors in railway transit cars, high speed motors and high performance collector rings.  Centrifugal castings exhibit improved mechanical properties and are free from porosity and impurities.  The centrifugal casting process produces a dense casting with a uniform grain structure, properties not achievable with static casting.

Permanent Mold Castings
The Electric Material Company utilizes semiautomatic molding equipment to produce permanent mold copper castings.  Our rich history and experience working with copper alloys has provided the foundation for our permanent molding capabilities.  If you are considering this method of manufacturing for your part there are several factors to consider.  The cost of the perm mold casting will be higher than a comparable sand cast product.  However, the perm mold part has several advantages such as higher strength, near net shape and improved surface finish and wear resistance.  Generally, permanent mold parts produced at TEMCO are below 10 pounds in weight and are high volume.

All castings are inspected regularly throughout the manufacturing process. Pre-pour chemistries are evaluated to ensure proper alloy composition and compliance with customer specifications.  Electric Materials is compliant with the following quality regulations and standards:
